The Enduring Craft of Santa Margherita Marble
Founded over 50 years ago in northern Italy, Santa Margherita emerged during the height of the country’s post-war construction boom. Inspired by pavimento alla veneziana, a traditional terrazzo-style flooring that embeds marble chips in cement, the company’s founders saw potential in giving new life to leftover stone fragments.
What began as a creative solution soon became a revolutionary process, setting a new standard for elegant, durable stone slabs and tiles. To this day, every Santa Margherita surface is crafted in the original facility in the Valpolicella region, where daily production now exceeds 80,000 square feet. In a world of fast-moving supply chains and shifting operations, that kind of continuity, of people, place, and process, is increasingly rare.
